Two of Act Construction (UK) Ltd’s sponsored athletes Emily Nicholl and Nicola McCleery are currently competing in a “Super Club” competition in New Zealand against some of the world’s best teams.

Emily and Nicola are two of the eight players from Glasgow-based netball team, the UWS Sirens, taking part and they are joined by four international athletes to make up the remainder of the team.

The competition takes place in Nelson from August 19 to 24.

ACT sponsored netballers.

So far, UWS Sirens  have played Pulse Netball, with a score of 33 to 66. They also lost their second match but very narrowly. Marama Vou vs UWS Sirens: 60 – 57.

They play NSW Institute of Sport tomorrow, before a rest day on Wednesday.

Jessica Mawer, a spokesperson for UWS Sirens, said: “This is really exciting opportunity for the UWS Sirens Select Squad to compete against some of the best teams in New Zealand and around the world.

“We are heading towards the 2018-2019 pre-season for the Vitality Netball Superleague and into a World Cup year (Liverpool 2019), so this experience is vital for the development of our national athletes by exposing them to different styles of play and learning from the best in the sport.”

The UWS Sirens are the only Vitality Netball Superleague team competing in the Super Club this year.

Before heading to New Zealand, Emily said on Instagram: “We are super excited to go. It’s going to be a huge opportunity for us to play countries abroad that we don’t get the opportunity to outwith internationals. Getting to play against some of the best countries in the world is going to be awesome.”
