ACT Construction (UK) Ltd. is delighted to announce that staff member Charlie Woodside has won a silver award in the BAM Construction Ltd North West Awards.

The Subcontract Manager Category award is received by Charlie and was presented during a BAM Construction supply chain lunch for his work on a major extension to the Unilever premises in Port Sunlight during 2016/2017.

Charlie started with ACT Construction (UK) Ltd. nine years ago and was initially employed as a labourer to carry out general duties on various sites. However, he quickly learned the processes of composite panel installation and achieved an NVQ and, subsequently, the position of skilled worker.

As his skills progressed, Charlie took on the role of installation foreman before completing a Site Supervisors’ Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS), which led to a site supervisor position.

Charlie is presented with a BAM Construction silver award.

Scott Weir, ACT Construction Director, said: “We found that Charlie has an excellent ‘can do’ attitude, combined with great work ethics, neatness and attention to detail.

“His current role is Installation and Site Manager and in the last couple of years he has been responsible for the day-to-day site management of ACT’s large construction projects. Our clients are always extremely complimentary of him and often request he is ear-marked for their future projects.

“Knowing that Charlie is managing a project allows me to focus on other areas of our contracting business because I can trust that the project is being delivered in a professional way and in a manner that sees us gain significant work from repeat clients ”

Charlie was presented with the award at a special ceremony in May by Ian Fleming, Regional Construction Director of BAM Construction North West.

ACT Construction (UK) Ltd. managing director Ken Godsman said: “It is often said that you are only as good as your weakest employee. We challenge everyone in our organisation to be the best they can be and Charlie certainly embraces that philosophy. He is a credit to himself and an asset to our business ”
