Our sponsored international hockey players, Kareena Cuthbert and Robyn Collins, thanked ACT for our continued support following the final match in the recent World League Semi-Final campaign.

Kaz and Robyn were part of the Scotland’s women’s hockey team that scored a dominant 1-0 win over Malaysia this week to claim ninth position overall in the important tournament.

The Scots had confident control of the match and could have won by a wider margin but for some brilliant Malaysian goalkeeping.

Player Sarah Robertson gave the Scots the lead when she made a second penalty corner count.

Scotland had more goal opportunities, including those made by Amy Brodie and Nikki Lloyd, but they were denied by the Malaysians.

Fiona Burnet’s goal attempt was also denied by a save.

Scotland Head Coach Gordon Shepherd is reported as saying, on the Scottish Hockey website: “It was a very good performance and it was pleasing to see the team dominating every quarter of the match. The game was 1-0 but it should have been about three or four nil on chances created.

“I’m delighted to finish the tournament with a win. We’ve not played badly in any of our games, and we’ve been unlucky at times, too.

“We’ve had five solid games. So to finish on a win, with such a good performance, is very good for building towards the European championships.”

After the match, Kaz Cuthbert tweeted: “What an experience! Finished with a 1-0 win over Malaysia. Thank you again to @ACTconstruct and @KenGodsman for the best support.
