ACT sponsored swimmer Ross Murdoch set two new personal best times in the 100m Breaststroke at the European Short Course Championships last weekend – and broke the Scottish record.
While Ross narrowly missed out on a place in the final of his other race, the 200m Breaststroke in the competition held in Copenhagen, Denmark, he recovered quickly to set two PBs in succession in the 100m event. The second PB in the final broke the Scottish record.
Ross’s time of 57.51 was the first of the championships to cause a record to fall. It was also his first ever international short course final.
He said: “I’m delighted with my 100m time. It’s a new best time and a Scottish record in my first ever international short course final.”
Ross congratulated his British teammate Adam Peaty who took the win in the 100m event and will now focus on long course preparation ahead of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. Murdoch is set to defend his 200m Breaststroke gold that he won in Glasgow in 2014.
