ACT renews commitment to Living Wage

ACT Construction ( U K ) Ltd has confirmed its continued commitment to being a Living Wage employer. This month the company’s annual accreditation was renewed by the Living Wage Foundation.

ACT Construction managing director Ken Godsman said: “We believe that well-rewarded staff create a better and more productive work-force. We are very pleased to have our Living Wage accreditation renewed for another year.”

What is the Living Wage?

The real Living Wage is independently calculated each year based on what employees and their families need to live on. It operates on a voluntary basis and applies to all workers over the age of 18. The current UK Living Wage is £8.45 an hour and in London it is £9.75 an hour.

The real Living Wage differs from the Government’s standard “minimum wage”. The real Living Wage rates are higher because they are based on the actual cost of living rather than the government minimum.

Why ACT is a Living Wage employer

Ken said: “We care about our staff and we are very happy to be part of the Living Wage scheme. Morally and socially I believe it is the right thing to do. We are convinced that investing in our people produces better results for our company.”
