ACT Construction (UK) Ltd has become the first company in Scotland, and one of a few throughout the UK, to achieve LPS 1500 and LPS 1531 certification for firewall installation by the industry trusted Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB).
The LPS 1500 standard certifies ACT as an expert and trusted installer of fire resisting compartmentation systems, while the LPS 1531 standard defines the requirements for companies installing passive fire protection products.
The certification is great news for ACT as well as for clients because it gives confidence and assurance that our company is fully qualified and competent to install fire protection products and systems.
Ken Godsman, ACT managing director, said: “We are proud to be the only company in Scotland to have been approved to receive this LPCB certification. It shows we are committed to safety and high levels of expertise.
“We were stringently assessed and evaluated by the BRE to ensure we fully comply with the high standards and requirements of LPS 1500 and LPS 1531 certification.
“LPCB has been a recognised mark of trust for decades and it provides an industry standard that is acclaimed worldwide. It ensures installers are credible experts in the design, supply and installation of fire rated partitions.”
BRE Global Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) has been working with industry and government for more than a century to set the standards necessary to ensure that fire and security products and services work effectively.
This standard is for companies installing fire-resisting compartment systems approved by LPCB to the requirements of LPS 1208. See LPS 1500 certificate pdf.
This standard defines the requirements for companies installing or applying passive fire protection products. See LPS 1531 certificate pdf
The LPCB certification gives complete peace of mind to clients. It means that if end users or main contractors work with ACT on a firewall project they will be receiving an insurance-approved product that is installed in an approved manner and underwritten by a leading third party.
In addition, ACT will supply clients with a Certificate of Conformity that declares the installation and application of the passive fire protection system is of a satisfactory LPCB standard. A copy of the Certificate of Conformity is also sent to LPCB.
