ACT hockey players Kaz and Robyn picked for World league semis

ACT is delighted to hear that our sponsored hockey players Kareena (Kaz) Cuthbert and Robyn Collins have been named in the Scotland women’s squad for the World League semi-final in Brussels.

The tournament, which takes place from June 21 to July 2, 2017, will see some of the world’s best hockey teams vying for places in the prestigious Hockey World Cup 2018.

Scotland’s opening match will be against world number one ranked The Netherlands, before the ladies face China, Italy and Korea in Pool A for quarter final places.

Pool B has Australia, Belgium, New Zealand, Spain, and Malaysia competing for places in the latter stages of the tournament.

Kaz, who plays for Western Wildcats in Milngavie, and Robyn, who is with Surbiton HC, were part of the Scottish team that qualified for the Brussels tournament after they finished in third place at February’s World League 2 in Valencia.

At the time, Kaz said: “We played six games in Valencia. We won four and lost two. Robyn scored in one of the games, which was brilliant.”

Hard working Scotland squad

Scotland head coach Gordon Shepherd said on Scottish Hockey: “The entire squad has worked extremely hard over the last few weeks and it has made the final selection for the World League semi-finals very difficult.

“There are four changes to the squad that was successful in qualifying from World League 2 in Valencia in February and this shows the depth of talent we have within the training squad.

“We are confident that the squad can do what is required to have a successful tournament in Brussels.”

ACT managing director Ken Godsman said: “We are delighted that both of our ACT sponsored players Kaz and Robyn have been picked to play for Scotland in this important World League semi finals tournament. We wish them – and the whole team – the best of luck.”

On Twitter, Kaz said: “Proud and excited to be heading to World League Semi Finals in Belgium! Thanks to @ACTConstruct for the amazing support.”
