ACT deliver £1m project for BAM

ACT Construction (UK) Ltd has successfully delivered a £1million project for BAM Construction (North West).

The ACT team were praised by BAM for their professional organisation, high quality of work and can-do attitude.

ACT assisted BAM (North West) in the design and construction of a multi-million pound manufacturing and distribution facility.

The ACT team was employed directly by BAM to design, supply and install a manufacturing facility that met the strictest hygiene regulations and provided fire separation between offices and manufacturing areas.

ACT installed fire-rated internal partitions, rated to 120 minutes, which complied with LPS 1500 and LPS 1531, as well as a combination of steel, hygienic and fast action roller shutter doors.

All openings through fire-rated partitions required to be similarly rated so ACT ensured all relevant doors and screens had been tested and carried certification within the composite wall panel system. A fire strategy report of conformity was issued upon Practical Completion.

The value of ACT’s works exceeded £1million and was completed within time and budget.

David Oldfield, BAM Project Manager, said: “ACT were selected due to their previous track record of delivering large-scale, complex projects such as this.

“We utilised ACT to provide up-front advice and input to the overall construction programme, which proved to be very valuable in ensuring the works were handed over on time and to the right quality.

“We found them to be a well-managed and professional organisation with a ‘can do’ attitude. We look forward to working with them on future projects.”

Ken Godsman, ACT Managing Director, said: “We were delighted to be engaged on such a prestigious project and to work again with BAM, with whom we have a long-standing relationship.

“The project involved some highly technical issues that called upon our specialist expertise to satisfy the client and their insurer’s requirements.

“I am very proud of our team in the delivery of this project, led by our Construction Director Scott Weir.

“Site-based project manager Charlie Woodside picked up an award from BAM during the construction phase and this was testimony to his hard work and project management skills.”
